"Bill" Stephenson, 63, a chemist who worked in academia, government and industry and whose last job was vice provost at Drexel University, died of cancer Saturday at home in the Art Museum area of Philadelphia......He returned to California in 1978 to teach organic chemistry at the University of Southern California.
