Shortly after Thursday’s practice ended, USC running-backs coach Todd McNair pulled aside freshman receiver Ronald Johnson. He wanted to know if Johnson was ready to return punts.Not in a practice or scrimmage this time, but in a real game.
“They were making sure I would go out there and want to do it, not just because they want me to,” Johnson said.
And Johnson’s response?
“I told him, ‘I’m ready to do it, coach....."
