Maybe it's in our nation's DNA. Ever since the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, we've been pushing west. If it wasn't land, it was gold. If it wasn't gold, it was opportunity.

Yes, opportunity. That's what this must be a story about - opportunity.

Consider this: USC's first football All-American wasn't a tall, beach-blond quarterback from Hollywood, rather a stout, black man with no left hand from Seattle. Little did Brice Union Taylor know when he went to USC in 1924 that he was starting a tradition that remains very much alive today...
