Expectations soar ever-higher for Trojans - Arizona Daily Star
You don't have to look at preseason polls and magazine predictions to know USC is this year's Team to Beat.

The Trojans are ranked No. 1 in both major polls, and many magazines have predicted an undefeated season. To that, coach Pete Carroll reacts coolly, what you might expect from a coach who wears a khaki suit and maroon tie to Pac-10 media day.

"All the expectations add to the fun, the buildup," he said. "We are looking forward to putting together a terrific team, I don't know if we can do it, but we'll go for it."

The true test of USC's clout comes from coaches, who began sniping about the Trojans long before the season started...
