Gable named starting tailback for USC's opener - Inland Empire Press-Enterprise
Pete Carroll made news Tuesday at his weekly luncheon by designating C. J. Gable as the starter at tailback for Saturday's opener against Idaho, if the sophomore stays healthy the rest of the week.

That was news to Gable.

"They don't need to know," Carroll said. "These guys are all working hard."

With Chauncey Washington out with a shoulder sprain, Gable's experience seemed to carry the day over Stafon Johnson and Allen Bradford, who have had better camps.

"I guess I'd better be ready," Gable said, then added, "It doesn't change anything. Things can always change again."...
