QB Cassel shows he has something in reserve - Boston Globe
One week after struggling against Atlanta, quarterback Matt Cassel may have showed enough to keep the Patriots from signing a veteran to be Tom Brady's backup.

Cassel looked a little shaky early in last night's 30-3 win over Arizona, but he settled in, and by the middle of the third quarter he was having his way with the Cardinals' second- and third-team defenses.

Coach Bill Belichick said Cassel was solely responsible for the improvement.

``I thought he handled himself a lot better this week," Belichick said. ``As a team we had a good week of practices and Matt had a good week, and as usual, it carried over to the game. I thought he handled the game well."...
