In yet another rookie-on-rookie training camp battle last week, wide receiver Steve Smith made a sharp cut on corner Aaron Ross, quickly established inside position and began to pull away.

The pass went to the other side of the field.

On this play, Steve Smith was the other guy. Again.

Since earning playing time as a freshman at USC, Smith has always been the other guy, the complementary player -- the No. 2, just like the jersey number he wore for the Trojans...
