Missing a man to block on the corner of the field-goal team, Bradford Banta grabbed tight end Chris Harr, positioned the freshman's feet and told him whom to block.

After the kick sailed through the uprights in practice Tuesday morning, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga assistant coach readjusted Harr's stance and gave a few quick instructions before the next snap.

"I gave him a thumbnail sketch of what to do -- punch two and hit one," Banta said. "You correct on the run. That's what a lot of coaching is."

Banta spent 11 years in the NFL, mostly on special-teams units and as a reserve tight end. He knows how to play.

Now he's learning to coach...
