Leinart in Unlikely Role of First-Round Fall Guy - NY Times
...when Leinart stood on the stage at Radio City Music Hall, Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said something that stuck with him.

"He said, 'Look at Ben Roethlisberger, and he's got a Super Bowl ring,' " Leinart said, recalling that the Pittsburgh Steelers had drafted Roethlisberger 11th over all two years ago. "Anytime you're in the green room, you want to be chosen as high as possible. But we expected something like this to happen. I'd done everything I could to prepare for this day."

Leinart would have been the star of almost any other draft, a charismatic quarterback with two national championships and only two losses on his collegiate résumé...
