When Cardinals rookie righthander Anthony Reyes threw his first pitch, he became the official worst pitcher ever to start Game 1 for the unofficial worst team ever to play in a World Series. Only Reyes, of all God's children, ever started a Game 1 having won just five games all season. Only the '73 Mets were alive near Halloween after winning fewer regular-season games than these Cardinals, and those Mets had Tom Seaver, a Hall of Famer, not Anthony Reyes, who irons his cap bill...
