With no practice Friday and an open date today, USC players are enjoying a weekend respite from the physical punishment that is meted out on the field.Few welcomed the revitalizing break more than Ben Malcolmson, a sportswriter-turned-receiver who made the unlikely jump from the press box to the roster of one of the nation's top college programs.
