Ryan Kalil is everything most of his new USC teammates are not.

He's experienced
, and for a Trojans team whose 11 returning starters are the fewest in the Pac-10, that alone is saying a lot.

Kalil, a 6-foot-3, 292-pound senior from Corona, begins his third season as a starting center this afternoon when the Trojans veterans hit the field for their first fall workout.

He does so as a known commodity surrounded by unproven talent...
