Thumb Injury Sidelines Trojans QB Sanchez - Inland Empire Press-Enterprise
Mark Sanchez didn't know when he did it or even how it happened, but the result of Sunday's scrimmage for the backup USC quarterback was a hairline crack on his right thumb that will sideline him until the pain subsides...

..."A couple of weeks," was USC coach Pete Carroll's guess, with USC's opener against Idaho on Sept. 1 just 19 days away.

"It's going to be close," Carroll said, noting that there is no danger with the injury and that no surgery will be required.

Carroll said USC will "really have to protect John David (Booty)" for the next few weeks, while getting plenty of reps for new backup Michael McDonald, a senior, and freshman Aaron Corp...
