USC quarterback John David Booty will have back surgery Friday, and Trojans coach Pete Carroll said today that he will not select a starting quarterback during spring practice.Booty has been out since the first day of spring drills, and Carroll said team doctors determined that he needed surgery to repair a bulging disk in his back.
