USC didn’t play this weekend, but the Trojans still made a move. USC climbed from ninth to fifth in the Associated Press Top 25. USC leapfrogged Virginia Tech (a big loser in the ACC title game), Oregon (a decent-sized winner in the Pac-12 title game), Arkansas (idle) and Boise State (which had been tied with USC for ninth but apparently left voters unimpressed after a 45-0 victory over New Mexico)...
