Indio's Lua stays grounded despite his many successes - Desert Sun
Oscar Lua isn't resting on his laurels.

Even though the 22-year-old Indio High School graduate played in the 2006 Rose Bowl and is consistently ranked among the nation's best middle linebackers, he's not waiting around for an NFL team to come calling with a million-dollar contract.

"I'm going to have something to fall back on," he said.

Lua just earned his bachelor's degree in urban planning and development from the University of Southern California. He plans to return next year for his master's at USC and will play football in the fall.

Last week, he was inducted into the Indio Youth Hall of fame...
